Welcome to Heckrodt Wetland Reserve

The Nature Center is slowly opening now that risk from COVID 19 has been reduced.  Effective June 2, the nature center lobby and exhibit gallery will be open from 10 AM – 3 PM. The Discovery Den, Presentation Room, and Solarium remain closed.  Unvaccinated visitors MUST wear a mask.

Trails (including the children’s Wild Space) remain open from 6 AM – 9 PM. Remember, no dogs are permitted on Reserve property.  Uniformed service dogs are welcome.  Bicycles and other wheeled recreation vehicles are not permitted on the trail.  Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome.  HWR is a No Drone Zone.

If you would like to leave plastic for recycling, please make sure all bags are tightly closed and leave them on either side of the front entrance or in the lobby when the nature center is open.  We cannot recycle plastics no.1 and up through this program.  Recycle them in your municipal recycling.

Programs for the general public have been re-imagined to allow us to deliver our environmental mission with Coronavirus safety in mind.  All programs will be held outdoors and participation numbers have been reduced to give us space for physical distancing.

Thank you for your continuing and heartfelt support.

We couldn’t do what we do without YOU!
