Heckrodt Prairie Hootenanny @ Heckrodt Nature Center

Come out to the Reserve for a prairie celebration of artisan food, live music, and nature.  We’ll highlight local producers and farmers by serving locally made food with an end-of-summer flair.  We will be offering grilled sweet corn, apples with honey, popcorn, and root beer floats.  The music will be folk-themed overlooking our mature prairie.  Event goers will experience the prairie in many ways from riding through it on a horse pulled wagon to learning about native prairie birds of prey and snakes to observing the local plants and pollinators with magnifying lenses and binoculars on the event observation platform.

Entry fee is $5/person if purchased in advance; $8/person at the gate.  This is a great family event!

Monarch Madness @ Heckrodt Nature Center

Join out naturalist as we learn all about Monarchs.  Participants will have the opportunity to dress up like monarch, assist in a Citizen Science Monarch Tagging Program, and sweep/ID for insects on our prairie.

Fee: $5/person ($6 with credit card).  This is a great family event!
