What lives in the soil beneath your feet? Let’s take a closer look, while digging and exploring the world beneath your feet.

Turtle Tots programs are designed to connect children ages 2-5 to nature in a naturalist-led setting. These programs include: Hands-on Centers, Craft, and Outdoor Experience. Please dress for the weather!

Fee::  $5/child ($6 with credit card online).  Prepaid registration is required before September 14.  There is no registration day of the event.

Creepy Crawlies Friday Session @ Heckrodt Wetland Reserve
Oct 5 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

It’s Creepy Crawlies time!  Celebrate the season with live birds of prey, a Songs of the Season with musician Randy Peterson, and a horse pulled wagon ride around our Jack-o-Lantern illuminated Trail. Then venture out to experience the “Creatures of the Night” guided wetland walk. Top off your visit off with  our Haunted Trail, if you dare.  Kids 5 and under can enjoy their own non-scary Little Spooks Trail.  Heckrodt’s Flock of Friends will be selling hot cocoa, cider, and cookies too.

$10/person advanced purchase ($11 with credit card)
Advance wristband purchase strongly recommended.  Wristbands at the door (if not sold out) are $12/person.

Wolf Paws on the Path Clinic @ Heckrodt Wetland Reserve
Oct 20 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

This program is designed especially for Wolf Cub Scouts.

Prepare for your hike and learn what you might see along the way. Learn Leave No Trace Principles and the Outdoor Code. Den leaders will guide their scouts on a 1 mile marked hike through the wetland during this program.

Siblings age 6 and over may attend, but must register and pay in advance. Siblings under age 6 should not attend,

Bear Fur, Feathers, and Ferns Clinic @ Heckrodt Wetland Reserve

Let’s learn about animals and plants that are all around us. Do you know something that is recently extinct? How about endangered? Leaders will lead scouts on a 1 mile marked hike through the wetland during this program.

Siblings age 6 and over may attend, but must register and pay in advance. Siblings under age 6 should not attend,
