Reclaimed Pollinator Hotel Build @ Heckrodt Wetland Reserve

Convert pieces of salvaged wood with other natural elements into your own Reclaimed Bug Hotel.  Learn why native insects are a must for any healthy yard ecosystem.  Each “Poolinator Hotel” will come with some live (dormant) Mason Bee pupae.  This is a great family activity!

Turtle Tots Preschool Adventure – Baby Animals @ Heckrodt Nature Center

Baby foxes are kits.  Baby raccoons are cubs. Baby opossums are called joeys.  Let’s learn more about the baby animals that call the Reserve homoe.

Turtle Tots Preschool Adventure programs are designed to connect children ages 2-5 to nature in a naturalist-led setting. These programs include: Hands-on Stations, Process-based Art, and an outdoor experience. Dress for the weather.

Fee is $5/child paid in advance ($6 with credit card). Adult must attend with child. Registration and payment is required by the Friday before the program. There is no registration the day of the program. There are no refunds for missed programs.

Mayhem in the Mud Session 1 @ Heckrodt Wetland Reserve

Don’t be a Dud… Come have some fun in the MUD!  Join us for an early spring day in the wetland.  We’ll be Mud Builders, Chefs, Artists, and Biologists all in one day.  By the time we’re done with this medley of mud, you’ll be covered from head to toe!

Pollinator Planting Party @ Heckrodt Wetland Reserve

Love nature and want to lend a helping hand?  We’re creating pollinator habitat and improving our air & water quality.  Plus, volunteering is a great way to learn more about nature and give back to you community.

Each volunteer will receive a free milkweed plant and coffee/juice/baked good.

Turtle Tots Preschool Adventure – Lunch for a Raccoon @ Heckrodt Nature Center

Identify the kinds of foods raccoons like to eat and where they get their food.  Take a hike to see where raccoons live on the Reserve.

Community First Free Fishing Day @ Jefferson Park, Menasha

Join us lakeside at Jefferson Park in Menasha to kick off Wisconsin’s free fishing weekend.  We will supply the bait and have additional rods and reels that can be borrowed.  There will be fun activities for the kids, free t-shirts, door prizes, and a small scale fishing tournament for all young shor fishers.  Prizes will be awarded to overall length of fish caught.  FREE FOOD FOR ALL!

Please arrive between 8-9 AM to check in to guarantee your youth T-shirt.

This event is a collaboration with Heckrodt Wetland Reserve and Menasha Parks and Recreation department.
