Eco-Explorers Summer Day Camp 2017

Eco-Explorers Summer Day Camps are designed for children ages 3 through grade 8 to learn about their natural environment through hands-on interactive activities.

During each program, participants will enjoy nature related activities and crafts.  Puppets, games, and stories may also be used to examine our natural world.  Small group sizes allow children to experience nature with personal direction from our naturalists.

Heckrodt Youth on BikesWe’ve designed this HIGHLY ACTIVE camp to get you outdoors in an adventure-based setting.  This camp will emphasize teamwork, world stewardship, and conservation of our natural resources in a nature-based tripping format.  This session will involve hiking, biking, spelunking, and canoeing.    Our base camp will be at Heckrodt, but we will be traveling to a variety of locations, including Ledgeview Nature Center, and canoeing down the Mecan River.  Participants will be constructing a traveling field guide that they will keep.  This field guide will highlight various habitats, critters, and plants found at each location they visited.

Campers should bring their own bicycle and helmet (please contact HWR if this is not possible).
