Celebrating our prairie with nature, local food, and music!
Saturday, August 24, 2019 12-3 p.m.
Come and celebrate our mature reclaimed prairie. Event goers will have the opportunity to experience the prairie in many ways; from riding through it on a horse pulled wagon, to learning about live native prairie birds and snakes, to observing the local plants and pollinators with magnifying lenses and binoculars on the observation plat form.
We are highlighting local producers and farmers by serving Fox Valley made food with an end of summer flair. We will be offering grilled sweetcorn from Oakridge Farms, root beer floats made with Stone Cellar Brewpub root beer and Cold Stone Creamery ice cream, fresh popcorn from Valley Popcorn, fresh squeezed lemonade, and drizzled apples from Schroeder’s Orchard with Heckrodt and other local honey (bring a blanket to picnic on).
We’ve also partnered with Stone Arch Brewpub in creating a Heckrodt Honey Blond Beer (made with our very own honey) that will be available for purchase at the event ($5 per glass- cash only). We’ll also be serving free samples of Heckrodt Honey Ginger Ale.
We’ll be hosting two bands at the event and they’ll be performing on a stage that is back-dropped by our 7 acre prairie. Dueling Banjos from the Fox Valley will be playing from 12:00-12:30 p.m. They are all about promoting bluegrass awareness in the area.
Black River Revue will be on the stage from 12:30-2:30 p.m. They are a “freshwater bluegrass and Americana band” from the twin ports of Duluth, MN and Superior, WI that have crafted a sound all their own.
